Message from the Director of TDSB:
Apr. 14, 2020
Apr. 6, 2020
We embark on the new journey of remote learning today. None of us created this situation, but we are all in this together. We all have to collaboratively work together and adjust our expectations. Let’s create positive ongoing dialogues with one another to make this a meaningful teaching and learning experience for everyone. Flexibility, experimentation, learning from mistakes, and kindness will serve us all well in our journey together.

UPDATE FROM PRINCIPAL VANDYKE Thanks to all of our staff, students, and parents for their patience this week as we navigated through uncharted waters in getting prepared for the start of remote learning on Monday. Please bear in mind this is a learning process for us all, and more info will follow in the coming days.

UPDATE FROM PRINCIPAL VANDYKE
All parents/guardians are asked to check their email on a daily basis. Frequent updates are being sent out by the board. Parents should also encourage their students to check into their Google classrooms at least once a day. Students should invite their parents to their respective Google classrooms so they can stay up to date on class work and teacher postings. Teachers are reaching out this week to connect with their students in preparation for learning next week.
Mar. 27, 2020 Good morning everyone: We hope cabin fever has not taken over your households as we struggle with coping with the circumstances imposed on us all by COVID-19. We are beginning to think about steps to move forward. We need to create consistency, connection and routine for our school community. The plan would be Monday to Friday at 9:00am we will send out a message with the following components:
With this in mind, we are going to use our school app, My School Day, as our platform. For school community members who haven’t yet downloaded the app, see instructions attached. Hopefully, over the course of next week, all students, parents and staff members will gain access to this means of getting information. For those who have not seen the last letter from the Director, it is attached for you to read. It does not provide specifics, but rather indicates the board move to planning and finding proper solutions to support our students. The purpose of connecting is not to overwhelm our families and students solely with instructional items, but to provide honest thoughts and support. Our message speaks to the importance of taking care of each other’s needs and allowing a venue for questions to be asked and addressed. Please continue to use this time to engage in activities that our busy schedules do not usually allow. Stay healthy and positive, Warm regards, The Western Technical-Commercial School and TheStudentSchool Administration Team
