Part 1 - Portfolio
You are required to upload a portfolio of five files of individually created artworks
as part of your online application to wtcs.ca.
Your portfolio may include anything you have created:
ie. digital or hand crafted drawings, paintings, mixed media, photographs,
sculpture, digital images, animations, video or audio files, etc.
Please submit all digital work in the following universal file formats
(maximum 20 MB per file):
.pdf .jpeg .swf .html .wmv .avi .mpeg
Please submit photographs of any hand crafted artwork.
Students are encouraged to submit work that they consider to be their strongest
technically as well as conceptually.
There is no preference for digital or hand crafted works of art.
We will gladly evaluate anything you can deliver.
Please adhere to the request of five artworks as only the first five will be evaluated.
Part 2 - Creative Writing
You are required to submit with your portfolio one creative writing piece.
This may be something you have already written as an assignment for
school, or something new written especially for your Design Studio application.
The topic is up to you. Approximate length: 100 - 500 words.

Western is primarily looking for students with a desire to learn and develop their
technical and conceptual artistic skills. Each student will bring a different skill
set to the program. Expertise could be demonstrated in anything from PhotoShop
to abstract painting. Western's Design Studio instructors will teach each individual
to channel their creative energy into productive, transferable skills to last a lifetime.
