Western has an enormous variety of athletic teams and clubs that participate in intramural and interscholastic sports. We value the discipline, team effort, camaraderie, and personal fitness gains that all sports provide. In addition to the many team sports such as basketball, soccer, and volleyball that play interscholastically, against other teams in the Toronto Board, Western also encourages intramural sports for all students. There are weekly, fun, in-house activities at lunch and after school such as floor hockey, ping pong, and indoor soccer.
Western’s Students’ Council is active in the school and also the community. Student-run initiatives include leadership camps, barbecues, dances, charity fundraisers such as the Terry Fox Run, the annual prom and semi-formal, and excursions throughout the city and Canada. Our goal is to get everyone at Western involved and participating not only in the school but in the community. We value the friendships and educational experiences that students can have outside the classroom as much as inside the school.
Separate from the Students’ Council, there are countless clubs and organizations that make life at Western exciting and vibrant. Joining a club at Western creates lasting friendships and allows students to gain a completely different understanding of their teachers and their colleagues. There’s a club for every student at Western from Robotics to Free The Children, from DECA, the business club to the Chess club. Get involved, meet new people, discover the world, and become a Western club member.
