Western’s FIRST Lego League Tournament

On Saturday, November 30, Western Technical-Commercial School was selected by FIRST Canada to host a FIRST Lego League Qualifying Tournament for TDSB elementary schools. 24 teams from the TDSB competed for 4 spots at the Ontario FIRST Lego League Provincials held at Durham College in January 2020. The day was full of excitement and the teams inspired many of us with their hard work and determination. Congratulations to all!

The team also had the opportunity to demonstrate coding and robotics with CanCode, a Canadian government program focused on Innovation, Science and Economic Development. The event was a great success with many praises from FIRST Canada and participants. Special thanks goes out to all the student and parent volunteers who were at school on Friday night and all-day Saturday. Special thanks to many of the Western staff and administration who have been diligently planning this event since September.

Congratulations to the 4 teams qualifying to Provincials. Also, congratulations to one of our own, Arlo, for winning the Outstanding Youth Mentor Award!
